Description
Sonnet to Orpheus, Book 1, No. 9
Only he may laud Without cease, who
Raised His lyre
To the departed shades.
Only He who has fed upon poppies
With the dead
Will not be made bereft
Of the least sound.
And often the reflection in the pool
Dissolves us asunder:
Know the image!
Would that the voices
In both realms might become
Unceasing and kind.
Rainer Maria Rilke (1875 – 1926)
